About Get Organised

A magazine feature on planners, organisers and log books caught my attention. I was particularly very interested in the family organiser that helps me to organise my housework schedule, marketing list, kids activities etc. I wondered about the other organisers available in the market. After calling up all the major bookstores in Singapore and found out that they don't carry such products, I went to search the net. Amazon.com and Calendar Club.com sells quite a good range but shipping it to Singapore would cost me around S$40. The local acmabooks.com is much cheaper, about half price but the range is very limited.

This set me thinking... If I'm interested in such tools, will there be others like me who are also looking but are unable to find them? It's not just family organisers but family calendars, wedding planners, pregnancy log, birth records, spiritual journals, kids/teens planners etc. Tools that help plan, organise and record events surrounding family life.

I believe these provide some form of structure and order to help manage the many facets of family life. And they also serve as memoirs which we can look back, marvel and give thanks. They can be reminders of God's protection and providence, much like in the Old Testament where stone pillars and altars were set up at places where the people encountered God. Lastly, they can be presented as gifts, especially to our children, who will love to read about their childhood.

So where do I go from here? I'm actually exploring ordering from abroad and selling the tools through this blog. Then another thought came. How about customising these tools to meet local needs? Most are very Americanised and lack local content. But that would involve design and printing...

Sigh... maybe I should just order for myself and put this business thing on hold. Some more market research is needed plus I'm not sure if God wants me to venture into it.
